CROM CARMICHAEL:
I watched our Vice President in Poland answer two questions, but the one that was shocking, absolutely shocking, was her answer to the question of: At what point does the Biden administration change policy to lower the price of gasoline?
That may not be the exact wording of the question, but it was a question on the price of gasoline. And her answer was that she had been talking with the president of Romania about the Black Sea. And I guess since oil is black, and the Black Sea has black in the name the Black Sea, somehow she confuses the Black Sea with a sea of black oil.
But she won’t answer the question. And I think that that was on purpose. I think she’s a complete screw-up, but I think, in this case, all the administration wants to do on gasoline prices is blame Putin and [say] the gasoline prices are related to inflation.
Just in the last 10 days, the price of nickel has gone up 250 percent. A farmer was on one of the TV shows and said that the price of fertilizer has gone from $265 a ton to $800 a ton. The price of fuel for a farmer is almost up 50 percent or 60 percent.
Now, fuel and fertilizer are the two largest inputs for farming. None of those costs have reached the grocery store yet. And so when I look at gasoline prices, I look at energy prices, I look at food prices and everything that you’re going to move from point A to point B, the cost of doing it now is up 20, 30, 40 percent. Those costs have not come into the marketplace yet. So my sense of it is, on inflation, is that we’re going to start seeing inflation even the way the government measures it, which is a missed measurement, by the way.
They don’t measure it according to what middle-income people are spending. And I think you’re going to see inflation at one percent a month, which is a 12 percent inflation rate. You’ve got the Federal Reserve, which is still holding interest rates close to zero.
When you look at our domestic policies, the fog of war is what we have over in Ukraine. Fog and economics are what we have at home, and I fear it’s going to get worse. They just won’t talk about it. They know what they’re doing, and they just simply lie about it.
What’s interesting is I’ve heard that Jen Psaki is being pursued by three different networks to be on their networks. She’s actually quite good at lying, at standing up in front of people, and truly providing what we call disinformation, or misinformation.
And yet, because she is so good at it, she’s being pursued by news networks. Think about that just for a second. It’s mind-boggling, but it’s where we live today. Michael, I will tell you what I think the next Republican President should do.
The next Republican president should have town hall meetings across the country and I mean, have the office of the presidency essentially be in Air Force One and the president going around the country and have town hall meetings, and not have the media moderate.
It ought to be the president having a couple of cabinet members or a couple of officials because, in that particular meeting, they’re going to talk about health care.
You don’t need moderations, you just need to have somebody who kind of points out and helps the audience interface with the president of the United States. Because, quite frankly, the President is a very powerful office, but historically and philosophically, the president is there to serve the people, as is Congress. And even to this day, they call themselves public servants, which they don’t believe they are.
But the next Republican president is going to have to go around the media and, frankly, displace the media with a podcast that’s direct to the people and that includes the people.
